God's desire for us to worship

lee

John 4:23-24

'Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshippers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshippers must worship in spirit and in truth.'

One of the difficulties in bringing new concepts concerning worship to people is the fact that the experience of worship is more often caught than taught. The Holy Spirit is the one who teaches us how to respond to God, and prompts us to worship Him. The Holy Spirit also reveals things to us deep in our hearts that we sometimes can not explain or express in words, and this is when things like singing in tongues and dancing sometimes happens. We enjoy these gifts God gives us to interact with Him by the Holy Spirit, but at King's it is always important that what we do is Biblical and shows love and respect for those around us as we believe this pleases God as much as any expression of worship.

If we look at the life of David we can see that worship was a lifestyle and not just an event. It was a daily expression of his heart toward God. He was a worshipper in the congregation because he was a worshipper when he was alone. (2 Samuel 6: 12-19). Learning to sing, give thanks, praise, and listen in our own private times with Jesus is very important in order to be able to relax and enjoy Him and each other when we gather together to worship. Our time spent alone with Jesus builds relationship..... and this is His greatest desire that we would grow in relationship with Him.

Also, we are able to worship with great faith when we see and understand from God's word what we are free to express in worship. It is hard to raise our hands, sing, dance, shout, clap, etc. if we don't know what God thinks about it from His Word. Worship must be by faith, and faith comes from hearing God's Word.

Get involved in a Small Group or Service Group

cupcakesOur meetings together are different every time  - we share and discuss relevant biblical topics, we cover areas of parenting, marriage, worship, meals, listening to music, poetry, we laugh, cry and pray, we even pull the odd dance move (Ha ha!) - but in everything we do we leave feeling encouraged, inspired, lighter in our hearts, knowing that we are supported by each other.
